Katten & Temple is pleased to announce that Kristi Nelson has joined the firm as partner. Kristi most recently served as Immigration Law Judge after being appointed by former U.S. Attorney Merrick Garland. She has served as a partner in boutique law firms handling complex commercial and employment litigation and investigations. Kristi has taught as an adjunct law professor at John Marshall Law School.

Katten & Temple is pleased to announce that Anthony Nguyen has joined the firm as senior counsel. Anthony graduated from Chicago Kent Law School after obtaining a degree from the University of Michigan, has practiced at large and small firms and most recently was Inspector General of the Cook County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.

The firm reached a successful resolution of pending Michigan federal court litigation on behalf of the Dean Emeritus of Michigan State University’s business school. Nancy Temple and William Bruce represented the client in this matter.

The Supreme Court denied certiorari in a trade secrets case in which Mitch Katten and William Bruce had successfully won a motion to stay in federal court in Chicago pending resolution of a parallel New Jersey state court action. After oral argument by William Bruce, the Seventh Circuit affirmed in April 2024.

Nancy Temple and William Bruce won summary judgment for a client in a class action federal securities case filed in Arizona federal court arising out of sale of bonds for a waste facility. John George also represented the client in this case.

Brad Kapnick and Nancy Temple successfully resolved claims for a client after a two-week jury trial in Hawaii federal court involving breach of fiduciary duty and malpractice claims by a trusts and estates lawyer.

Nancy Temple and Jeff Tone successfully resolved an insurance coverage claim brought in Minnesota state court for a manufacturing client involving physical damage to its products.

Nancy Temple and Jeff Tone won summary judgment in federal court in Chicago for a client in alleged fraud claims arising out of investments in hotels.
